We all have memories of the wasteland we walked into.
It could be that party or meeting you hesitated at the doorway because something didn't feel right. Or, worse, you walked into a situation and wondered how you got here.
Then there is the person you met who later vomited all over you.

You tell yourself that you are never walking into situations like this again. But it keeps happening.
How can you tell if people or places are toxic when they look normal?

Not to mention the aftermath of these exposures. We can spend weeks or even months putting our energy together again, depending on how toxic it is.
Fortress Is Built
Barriers go up, ranging from the mirrored, lighted egg to strong, sturdy walls. Nothing gets in.
I have found recently that nothing gets out, either. I built a fortress to keep myself safe. I walled myself off from the world. I can see things happening in the world, but I don't have to feel them. I am safe. Depending on your history, safety is paramount.
We are wired for safety, whether it is a fight or flight. We are familiar with this. But the walls hold in more than safety. The walls hold fear and a very narrow world. What can't get in can't get out.
There is another way.
Psychic Rose For Protection
This simple technique has been around for decades. I am not even sure where it started. I smacked my forehead when a dear friend told me about it. It was so simple, why didn’t I think of this?
Hold out a psychic rose. Watch what the rose does as it tests the situation. Does it change color, grow thorns, wilt, or grow madly into a wall of roses?
Before you roll your eyes here at the psychic name, everyone has psychic abilities. Your spidey-senses. Your intuition. The name isn't significant for what it is. Just the fact that you have it is what is essential.
Here is how you build the psychic rose.
Start with places and people you are familiar with to build confidence in the process. I started in my car and my home. I imagined a dark pink rose in front of me. It immediately changed into a black rose with gold filigree throughout it. And immediately, the places were covered in a wall of roses.
I also tested it on people that I am familiar with and trust. Again, the rose walls appeared.
I kept going. I tested on toxic people from my past. I just held the rose in my head and brought out a picture of a person. For one person, the rose grew thorns and teeth and snarled like a lion.
Now that I have clues to what happens with the rose, it's time to test it on a situation I don't know about. I imagined the rose with someone I don't know very well. The rose changed into a small bouquet of roses.
My time with the person was about the same. It was pleasant, with no surprises.
Now, most of us are control freaks. We want to control the image of the rose. Don't. Let it do whatever it does. Compare what happens with the encounter to what the rose said. You will be surprised.
Even though we hold the rose in our imagination, it doesn't mean it isn't real. Our imagination is the gateway to our inner world.

I don't walk into situations now without the rose. But this simple thing led to something fantastic
I didn't even know I was doing.
Life Outside the Fortress
I have come out of my fortress and touched the world around me without the walls. I can feel the world as it is. It isn't a frightening place anymore. I didn't know how behind my walls I was until I came out. It was like being born again.
I truly felt the sun and wind on my skin. I could walk down the sidewalk and feel safe. The world was a safe place. Once I tasted this freedom, I won't ever go behind the walls again.
I know that this seems extreme. Don't you wonder if you live behind walls you don't need? We often don't know things about ourselves except in hindsight.
This is simple and powerful. Try it for yourself and see if it works.
