A mystery beckons. Knowledge of a secret seems to elevate a person above others. Mortals love secrets, and will do much for the sake of knowing them, even when there is no apparent benefit to possessing such knowledge. What is the point of knowing all the secrets of the Universe? And how can this translucent masked figure know them all? Why will she only share them after the Commander has solved her riddles?
There are so many questions, and only one way to find the answers — obey this unknown figure and do what she asks.

An unknown masked figure told the Commander to go to a place called the Heart of Mystery, promising that the "secrets of Creation" would be revealed there. Is this a trap? Someone's stupid joke? Or is there truly something of value hidden there?

An unknown masked figure told the Commander to solve four puzzles located in four areas of the Worldwound. A special puzzle key is needed to activate each of them, and this key was kindly provided to the Commander. The reward for this is supposed to be the "secrets of Creation," which the mysterious figure has promised to share only with the most worthy of mortals.

The Heart of Mystery opened before the Commander. The last obstacle that stood in the way of reward.

The way is open to the "secrets of Creation." The only thing left to do is step through the open portal and receive a well-deserved reward.
Unfortunately, no one was going to reveal the secrets of Creation or the mysteries of the Universe to the Commander. This was to be expected. The ancient trap set by the demon lord Areshkagal was intended for someone else, someone who never fell into it. However, the Commander was not left entirely without reward. Well, it's all for the best.

Walkthrough[ | ]

  • To begin this quest you need to meet any of Ancient Ghosts in the puzzle locations.
  • The quest can't be fully completed until Act 5.

Go to the Heart of Mystery[ | ]

  • Visit Heart of Mystery and talk with ghost there.

Solve four puzzles[ | ]

  • You will get four Global Map encounters Special Encounter (The Secrets of Creation)
    1. Cyan (Act 3) - on a road east from Core of the Riddle.
    2. Purple (Act 3) - on a road west from Old Sarkorian Mines or south from Ivory Sanctum.
    3. Green (Act 5) - northeast from Forgotten Secrets.
    4. Red (Act 5) - west from Cave Citadel outpost, on a road towards Final Veil.
  • There you can talk to Ancient Ghost, once per location he will ask you a question, to get the right answer you will have to pass a check, in the following order:
    1. Lore (Nature) DC 30check(+120xp), bypassed by Elf +360xp
    2. Knowledge (Arcana) DC 27check(+52xp)
    3. Lore (Religion) DC 41check(+648xp)
    4. Knowledge (World) DC 43check(+1296xp), bypassed by Elf +5184xp
  • The rewards for giving the right answer depends on your current location:
    1. [Cyan] Scroll of Hellfire Ray, Scroll of Bull's Strength, Mass, Scroll of Summon Huge Fire Elemental.
    2. [Purple] Greater Reach Metamagic Rod.
    3. [Green] Haramaki +3, Scroll of Banishment, Scroll of Inflict Moderate Wounds, Mass, Scroll of Undeath to Death.
    4. [Red] Greater Maximize Metamagic Rod.
  • The puzzle locations are:
    1. [Cyan] Core of the Riddle (Act 3), slabs are found in Ravaged Long House (Act 3)
    2. [Purple] Legacy of the Ancients (Act 3), slabs are found in Place of Execution (Act 5)
    3. [Green] Forgotten Secrets (Act 5), slabs are found in Shrine of Sacrilege (Act 3)
    4. [Red] Final Veil (Act 5), slabs are found in Bone Hills (Act 5)
  • You can [Attack] the ghost, but that is not optimal as you will just miss out on content.

Solve the last puzzle[ | ]

  • Once all four puzzles are solved you will be able to solve the final puzzle in Heart of Mystery now.
  • For that you need One-Third-Full Containers, Two-Thirds-Full Containers and Full Containers that you should find in Laughing Caves (Act 5).
  • Also you would need the knowledge from The Enigma to understand the meaning behind symbols to solve the puzzle.
    • Although with enough dedicated guesswork (or cheating) you can do this quest before The Enigma.
  • Once the puzzle is solved enter the portal.

Claim the reward[ | ]

  • Approach the illusory Areshkagal. By askign questions you unlock the three dialogue options:
    • (Chaotic) Mythic Trickster +4xp
    • (Chaotic) non-Mythic Trickster Bluff DC 44check(+1728xp)
    • [Show the Mask of Nothing] if you have Mask of Nothing from The Enigma. +4xp
  • Those three options will lead to "conversation" where you can stall time, which will cause the illusion to dissapear.
    • Alternatively, you could just attack and kill it, although there is no benefit in that besides experience points.
  • After the illusory Areshkagal is gone, if you didn't attack Ancient Ghost before you will get to talk to him.
    • He will give you Mask of the Most Worthy.
    • If you know about him through Storyteller's stories, you will be able to mention it.
